Need an astronomy expert? I do frequent outreach work in schools, pubs, on the radio, and occasionally even on TV.
I am a passionate advocate for underrepresented groups in science. In my capacity as a queer disabled woman, I believe it is important to be visible and to share my experiences so that young people from similar backgrounds can see that a career in science is possible. In recognition of this I was awarded a Queensland Museum award for Breaking Barriers in STEM.
The image on the right is from a Wear it Purple Day event at the University of Sydney, where I was part of a panel of queer STEM professionals giving career advice. I was also part of their Breaking Barriers series. A social media series that spotlights USyd alumni from underrepresented backgrounds.
Shoot me an email or reach out on Bluesky or LinkedIn and we can see what we can organise. I also have several fantastic students who love outreach and would love to be involved.
